what do you do when you plan an outdoor summer wedding and it does nothing but rain and rain and rain? the only thing you can - ignore it. jen and nick earned our lifelong respect for totally changing their ceremony as the rain started to fall. and how jen later abandoned using umbrellas altogether so that she could get close to some friendly horses. unfortunately, buster the wonderdog wasn't able to make it to the wedding, but he did text through a photograph of himself, fully decked out in tux and tails for the occasion. classy!

BRENNAN WEDDING + 365 DAYS

yes! unique selling point, my friends - it looks like we're cornering the market in after-the-fact wedding shots! last time out was the kennedy 40th anniversary party. this time those crazy guys pauline and andy asked us to take some shots to mark their first anniversary. so in went the flask of tea, the picnic sandwiches and a couple of bags of taytos - and out came the sun and a pair or two of wellies. thank you, gods of photography+sunshine

our great and embarrassingly talented friends Clare Grennan and Laura Caffrey - who run the increasingly eclectic IRISH DESIGN SHOP on Bow Lane - asked us to take some shots at the shop for its upcoming First Birthday. never shy of hitching our wagon to a sure thing, and seduced by their offer of cake, we're making a bold prediction: if there's any justice in the world, this time next year they'll both be millionaires. hopefully.

CHRISTMAS 2009

it's as if it never happened. Christmas 2009. The snow. The ice. Falling embarrassingly on my ass on the way to the bus stop. And of course the Christmas dinner. Obviously paid way over the odds for crackers this year because instead of the usual strangeness, this time we ended up with some quite cool surprises - including a quite funky Santa + Rudolph jigsaw. Thankfully, the jokes were still satisfyingly awful.

we had the pleasure of photographing our first wedding in roscommon a couple of weeks ago. it can be embarrassingly easy to be a wedding photographer when you find a bride and groom who look as great in front of the camera as ciara+barry did. we had to dodge the odd rainshower, but the whole day from start to finish was as relaxed and beautiful as anyone could wish for

this weekend we got to hang out with the Whelan family for the chance to work on their christmas portraits. okay, maybe not "christmas portraits" - there was no holly, mistletoe or reindeer involved - but more like portraits taken in time for christmas. a box of roses + very definite bribery + five great kids = one large sockful of great shots

ROAD TRIP USA

...1500 miles, a full tank of gas, half a box of donuts, dark, and we were wearing sunglasses. if it's autumn then it must be holiday time. This year we were lucky enough to head to the north eastern united states for a few weeks. think of it as our little investigation into the world economic crisis - except with slightly less accountancy and slightly more sunshine. We came across some great music in the strangest of places: Selbyville in a café in Maine; The Money Jungle in a bar in Vermont; and our last photo shows the Freelance Whales that we listened to in a subway station in Brooklyn. You can check them out on iTunes, minus the rumbling sounds of passing trains.

LUCIA + GAVIN
Showing belief in the Irish weather that I wouldn't have thought possible, Lucia and Gav held an outdoor ceremony for all of their friends and family following an earlier church service. And as luck would have it, the forecast rain and wind held off for just long enough to allow these two great people to tie the knot (or in their case, a beautiful yellow ribbon)...

KNOW YOUR DUBLIN

finally getting around to posting some images from what has become a Sunday pilgrimage for us over the last couple of weekends: pick an area on the map and walk there. in three weeks we've managed to squeeze in clontarf, stoneybatter, cabra, harolds cross as well as 14 slices of chocolate cake and 27 mugs of coffee.

stumbled across the smithfield festival, where in between listening to bagatelle (check it out, children of the 80's!). we also managed to take a look at the street art demonstration that was taking place. very cool.

and where would we be without at least one shot of red brick+lace curtain??

Our friends Clare+Laura over at the Irish Design Shop - as well as designing and selling some of the funkiest crafts and jewellery around - have come up with a rather tasty idea: Make Your Own Wedding Rings. Why buy some off-the-shelf mass-produced ring when you can spend a fun weekend making your own. (and i'm sure if you ask really really nicely, Laura might even bake you one of her homemade muffins!!).

MAYO - AUGUST BANK HOLIDAY

Typical. In Mayo for the long weekend with a few friends: getting rained on; blown away. It's Ireland after all - what are you gonna do? Why, buy a cheap ass Cobra kite for €3.99 and head to the beach, that's what. Irish weather be damned!
